How to Register for a CRA My Account

My Account is a secure portal that allows you to view your personal income tax and benefit information, as well as manage your tax affairs online.

With a CRA My Account, you will be able to:

•  Change your personal information
•  Start and/or manage your direct deposit details
•  Download your tax information slips such as T4, T4A(P), T4A(OAS), T4E
•  View the following:
     o Notice of assessment or reassessment
     o Detailed RRSP and Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)
     o Home Buyers Plan (HBP), Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP)
     o Benefits status and payments
     o Proof of income statement

Registration Process

Important: To register, you must have a filed and assessed tax return for the current or previous
tax year.
You have a choice of two options to register for My Account - with a Sign-in Partner (such as your
bank), or by creating a CRA user ID and password.

You will need your current and previous year tax returns as you will be requested to enter an
amount from a line from one of the returns.

Step 1 Provide personal information

On the CRA’s My Account for Individuals page, https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-
agency/services/e-services/e-services-individuals/account-individuals.html

•  Click the Sign-in Partner button
•  Select your sign-in partner
•  Log in using your username and password that you normally use for this website
•  Enter your social insurance number
•  Enter your date of birth
•  Enter your postal code
•  Enter the requested amount from your tax return

After you complete step 1 of the registration process, you will have limited access to the services
offered by My Account.

Step 2 Enter your CRA security code

Within 10 business days, you will receive a letter from CRA with your CRA security code.
•  Login to My Account using your Sign-in Partner
•  When prompted, enter the CRA security code. This code has an expiry date, so follow the
instructions before the code expires.

You now have full access to all the services offered by My Account.

Option 2 – CRA User ID andPassword

On the CRA’s My Account for Individuals page, https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-
agency/services/e-services/e-services-individuals/account-individuals.html

•  Click on CRA register button
•  Enter your social insurance number
•  Enter your date of birth
•  Enter your postal code
•  Enter the requested amount from your tax return
•  Create a CRA user ID and password
•  Create your security questions
•  Enroll in mandatory multi-facture authentication. For more information see

After you complete step 1 of the registration process, you will have limited access to the services offered by My Account.

Step 2 Enter your CRA security code

individuals/account-individuals.html and select CRA sign-in
•  Enter your user ID and password
•  When prompted, enter the CRA security code. This code has an expiry date, so follow the

You now have full access to all the services offered by My Account.


How to Authorize Bluenose Accounting as your Representative with CRA

•  Sign into My Account
•  Go to the Profile page
•  Scroll down to Authorized Representatives

Step 1 Enter Representative Information

•  Select Add, then Start
•  Under Representative information, enter the Business Number 899934715
•  Bluenose Tax Services Ltd will appear on screen

Step 2 Enter Representative Authorization

•  Select Level 2 for Authorization level
•  Select Yes for online access
•  Expiry date – this is an optional field. If no date is entered, the authorization will be valid
indefinitely
•  Select “Next”

Step 3 Review and Submit

•  Review the information
•  Check the confirmation box
•  Click Submit

You have successfully authorized Bluenose Tax Services Ltd (Bluenose Accounting) as your
representative.

The Firm has established and put into place policies and procedures designed to protect personal information. The firm has communicated to its partners and employees its policies with respect to privacy and has established responsibilities for all individuals with access to private information. The firm has designated Anthony Fielding Ph.D., CA (anthony@bluenoseaccounting.com) as its Privacy officer.

Consent

Information provided to us, including that collected from our website, is used solely for the purpose of the service(s) indicated and is often, but not always, set out in its engagement letter. Should you advise us at any time that you no longer consent to the use of the personal information that you have provided to us, we will take your information off our database.

Safeguards

The Firm protects the privacy of personal information in its possession by using security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
